The town Oschersleben lies north of the Harz in the Magdeburg Börde, about 50 km southwest of Magdeburg.

The place was first mentioned in 994. Oschersleben must have had town charter by 1235 at the latest. In 1648 the city came to Brandenburg, and from 1816 to 2007 it was a district town.
