Palinuro is a city in the Campania in the province of Salerno.
To know
It is a rather well-known seaside resort in southern Cilento, whose name is linked to a character of the Aeneid, the mythical Palinuro, helmsman of Aeneas's fleet.
Palinuro is a rather well-known tourist resort. The good summer accommodation is due both to the quality of the water (which for some years has been awarded the "Blue Flag") and the "Sails of Legambiente") and to the position of the town in the context of Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park. In addition to the beaches located on the side of the town of Palinuro, the area called Spiaggia Mingardo (also called Natural Arch, due to an arched rock formation), on the side of the Gulf of Policastro, is quite popular.
Geographical notes
Located not far from the mouths of the Lambro and Mingardo rivers, Palinuro extends over the small peninsula of the homonymous promontory, Capo Palinuro, renowned for its scenic beauty, its naturalistic features and for the presence of underwater caves. state roads 447, 447r, 562 and 562d; 8 km (northwest) from Marina di Camerota, 10.5 (southeast) from Pisciotta, 5 (south) from Roe deer, 7 (southwest) from Centola and about 100 (southeast) from Salerno.

By car
Following the completion of the variant to the SS 18 (var) highway, it is easily reachable from the inside, from a junction about 8 km away.
The center can count on a tourist port, located at the northern base of the homonymous promontory, and connected with Salerno is Naples through a hydrofoil service called "Metrò del Mare" (lines MM4, MM5 / W, MM6, MM6 / W).

The railway station (about 7.5 km) is the rather important one of Pisciotta-Palinuro (connected to Palinuro by regular buses).
