The Escarpment (Rift valley) the south african province Mpumalanga delimits the highveld from the lowveld and is roughly between the borders of the Limpopo Province in the north and Eswatini in the south.

Panorama route is an often used tourist name for this part of the escarpment, the numerous spectacular viewpoints were certainly decisive for the name. It is not a term for a specific tour, but for the entire region. It leads over the mountain ranges of the Drakensberg on the road R532 from Sabie along the Blyde River Canyon, from Graskop to Pilgrims Rest to Ohrigstad.

The escarpment is home to many tourist attractions, such as the Blyde River Canyon, one of the largest canyons in the world. The escarpment impresses with its steep slopes and many waterfalls, but also sights from the gold rush times such as Pilgrim's Rest or the Bourke's Luck Potholes.
Between Grass head and Bourke's Luck Potholes breaks the highlands (Highveld) along an approx. 20 km long and 700 m high vertical edge to the underlying Lowveld from. The viewpoints located here on Pinnacle and on God's Window reveal spectacular views into the depths.

- Blyde River Canyon. With the Three rondavels and Bourke's Luck Potholes.

- Pinnacle. Free standing rock needle on the edge of the demolition.
- God's Window. Impressive view from a small ledge into the depths and, with good visibility, far over the plains.
- Wonder View. Viewpoint similar to God's Window, but far less touristy and free.
