the W National Park is south of Niger, on the border with the Benign. Its name comes from the "W" shape of the Niger River in this area.
The W Park covers an area of 335,000 ha and has 400 km viewing trails. The park welcomes around 1,200 visitors a year.
Entrance to the park for visitors

- foreigners: 10,000 CFA.
The visit must be accompanied by a guide paid 5000 CFA / day.
Although the park remains open all year round, the best time to visit is from December to March because the tall grass in the rainy season falls and allows you to see from a distance, the rarefied water points become a privileged place of observation. fauna which comes to drink there and the temperature does not yet reach the maximums of the period April-June.

By car from Niamey via the tarmac road to Say then degraded laterite (it is therefore preferable to get there by vehicle by 4X4).
By canoe along the Niger River, which allows you to appreciate even more the change of scenery and to discover the landscape.The journey becomes magical with the plenitude of the water and the evolution of the landscape throughout the journey. It will take two days (quiet) to get there (possibility of doing it in one day but much less pleasant) with various places to camp under the stars (without risk of course) before arriving at the Nigercar camp which is in the park W. You can for example contact the "friendship canoes" starting from Niamey.
