Circulate
Apart from the highways which are comparable to French four-lane roads, the roads are full of bends and are not terrible. Allow more time to travel. This certainly explains the low fatality rates on the road: you have to drive slowly. And it's beautiful, enjoy it!
Wales has a perfect road network, far superior to any in France, hardly any potholes and top notch signage like the rest of the UK. Note that the bilingualism of road signs is almost total.
Speak
We are talking English and Welsh in Wales which is officially bilingual. English is spoken there with an accent which is, strongly or slightly (depending on the region) different than those ofEngland. The southern accent is notably "singing" compared to the other smooth accents of the country. French is widely taught as a foreign language in school and college, although very few people maintain their knowledge of the language of Voltaire. It would be better if you had some knowledge of English.
Note that in some regions away from large cities (especially in the west and north-west as well as some corners of the south such as the Rhondda valley), former Welsh people have always refused to speak English, preferring to express themselves almost exclusively in their mother tongue. Having said that, most people are happy to speak English to tourists.

You will always find a pub somewhere, even in the countryside.
Housing
There are very few campsites for not very wealthy young people. Count in 15 € for two and a tent at a basic campsite. Hotels are very expensive and often dusty.
