Pembroke is a city of Canada, the county seat of Renfrew County.

Located at the confluence of the Muskrat and Ottawa rivers on the border with the Quebec , 40 km from the Algonquin Provincial Park, Pembroke was founded in 1858 and became an important center for the wood industry during the 20th century; today it is a lively town surrounded by beautiful nature, famous for its artistic murals and for the local hockey team.

Pembroke Airport

By car

Pembroke is located on the path of thetrans-Canadian highway, one of the longest highways in the world. This means that you can reach the city using one of the best road networks in the world, starting from any of the Canadian provinces.

How to get around

Pembroke is small enough to be explored comfortably on foot or by bicycle. There are however some taxis (much cheaper than elsewhere in Canada)

  • Murals (Heritage Murals). On the territory of Pembroke there are 25 wall paintings, real works of art, which illustrate the history and many aspects of the local culture.

The museum tells the story of the arrival of electric lighting in Pembroke, one of the first Canadian cities to enjoy it. The oldest artifacts date back to the last decades of the 19th century.

  • 1 Walk in Pansy Patch Park, Dickson St. off Mackay St.. Ten acres of well-kept garden, great for cycling or walking on sunny days.
  • Visit to Algonquin park. Located just outside Pembroke, this large park offers incredible possibilities for those who love camping, boating and hiking in the wilderness.
  • Discovering the Kiwanis Path. Kiwanis is a 1.5km trail that runs from the city to Riverside Park. It includes spaces for public events, natural and man-made monuments and breathtaking viewpoints.
