Perth is the state capital ofWestern Australia in the western part ofAustralia.

Perth is a city with a high standard of living. According to a list of the most liveable cities in the world compiled by The Economist in 2011, it occupied the eighth place.

After Sydney, Perth is the city Australian with the greatest economic development thanks above all to the exploitation of the mineral resources of its territory (gold, nickel and diamonds).

The characteristic of the city is its isolation. The closest Australian city is Adelaide, about 2,100 km further east. Jakarta, capital of Indonesia is 3,002 km away and is closer than Sydney (3,290 km east)


How to orient yourself

The center of Perth sits on the north bank of the Swan River where the river basin widens to form a kind of bay known as Perth Water. To the north the center is bordered by the railway station and to the west by the steep Mount Eliza set up as a city park (Kings Park).

The main arteries of the center are Hay street is Murray street, reserved for shopping and partly pedestrianized.

St Georges Terrace it runs parallel to the previous ones a little further south crossing the Central business district with its forest of skyscrapers, headquarters, for the most part, of mining and oil companies. Its continuation to the east is called Adelaide Terrace.

The airport is located about twenty kilometers east of the center. Bus line 37 terminates at Kings Park, stopping at various points in the center including the train station.

Safety

The problems related to safety are minimal and to prevent them, the precautions normally taken in your place of residence are enough. In Perth, petty crime is almost entirely absent.
