Pfedelbach is a community at the transition of the Hohenloher level to the Swabian-Franconian Forest.

Pfedelbach was first mentioned in a document in 1037. In 1472 Pfedelbach came under the rule of the Counts of Hohenlohe. After the principality of Hohenlohe was dissolved, Pfedelbach fell to Württemberg.

Between 1971 and 1973 the formerly independent communities of Harsberg, Oberohrn, Untersteinbach and Windischenbach were incorporated. Another district is Heuberg / Buchhorn / Gleichen, the place was created in 1989 by amalgamating several hamlets that previously belonged to the core town of Pfedelbach.
