Mainhardt is a community in Swabian-Franconian Forest.

The climatic health resort Mainhardt lies on a plateau of the Mainhardt Forest. The place, first mentioned in a document in 1027, was already settled in Roman times, as the nearby Limes and the remains of a fort prove. Mainhardt also has four formerly independent communities as well as several hamlets and farms.

  • The Schlössle, Built in 1603 as an official building, expanded several times, then used as a tannery, later as a spice mill, houses the Roman Museum
  • in the Roman Museum are primarily local finds, as well as exhibitions on military equipment, food and drink. The museum is run on a voluntary basis, it is open by telephone agreement via the municipality of Mainhardt, Tel. 07903 9150-0.
  • The Museum Pahl in the Mainhardt-Gailsbach district is open from May 1st to Oct 1st on weekends from 10 a.m. to noon and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Tel. 07903 2546 or 07903 9150-0.

The private museum for clocks and technology formerly located in the town was closed.
