The town Schwäbisch Hall lies in the area of Haller level in the Hohenloher level.
background
The city was only called Hall until 1941, when it was given its current name. The residents continue to call the city just Hall.
Hall was first mentioned in the 11th century, has been a city since 1204 and became a free imperial city in 1280. The right to mint coins (the Brighter) and through the salt production Hall came to a certain prosperity. In 1802 Hall came to the Kingdom of Württemberg.
Between 1930 and 1936 the places Steinbach, Hagenbach and Hessental were incorporated, the places Bibersfeld, Gailenkirchen, Gelbingen, Eltershofen, Weckrieden, Tüngental and Sulzdorf followed from 1972 to 1975. The city is divided into 17 districts. Schwäbisch Hall is the capital of the district of the same name in the region Heilbronn-Franconia.

Sports
- The Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns play American football in the German Football League (first Bundesliga) South and were able to reach the championship title in 2011 & 2012 and the final in 2014 and 2015.
