Vellberg is a small town in Baden-Wuerttemberg, it lies on the edge of the Swabian-Franconian Forest at the transition to Hohenloher level.

The old town of Vellberg lies on a rock spur above the Bühler valley. The place was first mentioned in a document in 1102. Vellberg has had city rights since 1506. In 1972 the formerly independent community Großaltdorf was incorporated into Vellberg. Other districts of Vellberg are the villages or hamlets of Talheim, Lorenzenzimmern, Kleinaltdorf, Eschenau, Schneckenweiler, Merkelbach and Stöckenburg.
