Crailsheim is a city in the Jagsttal in the Hohenloher level.
background
Crailsheim was first mentioned in 1136. In 1314 it became Hohenlohe, and in 1338 it was given city rights. In the winter of 1389/90 the city was besieged by the imperial cities of Schwäbisch Hall, Rothenburg and Dinkelsbühl. The legend of the comes from that time Horaffen. Crailsheim became Prussian in 1792, Bavarian in 1806, and finally Württemberg became part of 1810. Today Crailsheim is part of the Schwäbisch Hall district in the region Heilbronn-Franconia.

According to a legend, during the siege of the city in the winter of 1379/1380, when food was scarce, the women of Crailsheim used their last flour to bake their lent pastries Horaff and threw it over the city wall to the enemy. When the mayor's wife showed her fat behind to the enemies from the wall, they were convinced that the city could not be starved and left. The shape of the pastry is supposed to remind of the buxom mayor's wife.
