Ellwangen is a town in the Upper Jagsttal in Baden-Wuerttemberg.

They are to the east of Ellwangen Ellwang Mountainsthat for Swabian-Franconian Forest belong. To the north lies the Virngrund, an offshoot of the Swiss franc amount. It is south of the city Alb foreland.

The Upper Jagstbahn connects Ellwangen with Bask and Crailsheim. At the 1 Ellwangen station Intercity trains also stop from Stuttgart to Nuremberg.
In the street
The highway A 7 with the rest stop Ellwang Mountains runs from Rothenburg ob der Tauber in the direction Ulm, it has the junction at Ellwangen 113.
The B 290 comes from Crailsheim, leads through Ellwangen and further on Bask.

Tourist Attractions
- The 1 St. Vitus Basilica
Important late Romanesque building in Swabia. Consecrated in 1233, redesigned in Baroque style between 1737 and 1741. Particularly worth seeing on the exterior are the east section, inside the crypt, the abbot and provost panels in the south transept and the cloister attached to the north.
- The 2 Evangelical town church
Former Jesuit church, built 1724 - 1729 according to plans by Jakob Amrhein. Outstanding frescoes with Marian themes and illusion painting by Christoph Thomas Scheffler. Ornate wrought iron grille in the entrance area.
- The 3 Baroque church Schönenberg
The popular pilgrimage site was built in its current form in 1682 - 1695 and 1709 - 1715. Wall pillar church built according to the Vorarlberg scheme, significant interior with stucco work by Melchior Haudt and Melchior Paulus, large nativity scene above the choir (all year round).
- The 4 Castle above Ellwangen With Castle Museum
Developed from a medieval castle, rebuilt in 1603 - 1608 into a four-winged palace of the late Renaissance, rebuilt in Baroque style in 1720 - 1727. The castle served as a residence for the prince provosts of Ellwang. Worth seeing: inner courtyard, stairwell and museum. The castle museum invites you on a journey of discovery in the footsteps of the prince provosts and castle residents. The permanent and special exhibitions present the region's more than 1200-year-old culture and past through diverse and vivid testimonies.
Highlights of the museum are: Baroque nativity scenes with over 100 figures, a throne room with royal inventory, cast iron from Wasseralfingen, faience tableware, paintings and dollhouses.
- The 5 Alemanni Museum - Gold leaf crosses and dead trees
Archaeological finds from all over southern Germany offer an overview of five centuries of Alemannic settlement. The focus is on the nearby Lauchheim, where not only the largest Alemannic cemetery with valuable grave goods, but also the associated settlement with a manor house was discovered. Original finds, productions and interactive media encourage people to touch and participate.
- The Sieger Bait Museum - Picture and Bible
The works of the artist pastor Sieger Köder in Ellwangen and the region are numerous - churches and chapels are decorated with his works. Now the work of Sieger Köder is documented in its own museum. In twelve stations the museum gives an insight into the work, the theological thoughts and the life path of the painter priest.
