Gaildorf is a city in Swabian-Franconian Forest.

Gaildorf is located in the Kochertal in the Swabian-Franconian Forest, nestled between the Limpurger Mountains in the east and the Murrhardt Forest in the west.
It is the center of the Limpurger Land and was first mentioned in a document in 1260. In 1404 it received city rights and soon after became the residence of the Gifting from Limpurg. It has belonged to Württemberg since 1806.
Gaildorf includes a total of 10 districts, including Eutendorf, Gaildorf, Ottendorf and Unterrot.

By train
- The Murrbahn leads from Stuttgart, Backnang and Murrhardt through Gaildorf and further over Schwäbisch Hall-Hessental to Crailsheim. The train stop is 1 Gaildorf West stop about 2 km to the west. There used to be the breakpoint Gaildorf town at the Kochertalbahn (Gaildorf West - Untergröningen), but this was shut down years ago.
In the street
- From Gaildorf the B19 to the north via Schwäbisch Hall to the motorway A6. In a south-easterly direction it leads to Abtsgmünd and Aalen A7.
- The south leads B298 to the Remstal B19 in the direction of Stuttgart or Aalen.
- You get to the west via the L1066 about Murrhardt Sulzbach an der Murr, from there over the B14 to Winnenden and on to Stuttgart.
By bus
The city is served by the Verkehrsverbund KreisVerkehr Schwäbisch Hall. Bus line 16 runs between the city and Schwäbisch Hall.
By bicycle

Old castle - Half-timbered building from the 15th century. Residence of the Limpurg taverns and the Counts of Waldeck-Limpurg. With Gaildorfer Stadtmuseum with the gift cup, which is unique in Europe, permanent exhibition on criminal justice in the imperial county of Limpurg and Theresientaler Heimatmuseum. The City Museum in the Old Castle is open every first Sunday of the month from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. - 2 New lock - Countess Amalie von Waldeck-Limpurg's pavilion, built in 1846. - 3 Mausoleum of Hermann Frasch (1851–1914) - American petroleum chemist, born in Gaildorf. His body was transferred to the United States in 1924.
- Kernerturm - Wooden lookout tower on the church, built in 1902. Named after the poet Justinus Kerner (1786–1862), who worked here as senior medical officer for four years from 1815
