Gaildorf is a city in Swabian-Franconian Forest.

Gaildorf is located in the Kochertal in the Swabian-Franconian Forest, nestled between the Limpurger Mountains in the east and the Murrhardt Forest in the west.

It is the center of the Limpurger Land and was first mentioned in a document in 1260. In 1404 it received city rights and soon after became the residence of the Gifting from Limpurg. It has belonged to Württemberg since 1806.

Gaildorf includes a total of 10 districts, including Eutendorf, Gaildorf, Ottendorf and Unterrot.
