Lauchheim is a small town in the valley of the Jagst. It is located under the night eaves at the transition from Eastern Alb foreland to the Härtsfeld.

The two formerly independent towns belong to Lauchheim Envelopes and Röttingen.
Neighboring communities are Westhausen, Bopfingen and Bask.

Lauchheim is close to the Aalen-Heidenheim airfield near Elchingen.
By train
The 1 Lauchheim station is on the route of the RiesbahnBask – Donauwörth. Regional trains stop every hour and every two hours on weekends and on public holidays. Individual trains run from / to Munich central station. In Aalen Hbf and Donauwörth there is a connection to long-distance traffic.
By bus
The best way to get to Lauchheim by bus is with line 7696, which runs from Aalen via Laucheim and Bopfingen to Nordlingen leads. In particular, between Aalen and Bopfingen, the buses run at comparatively close intervals from early in the morning to around midnight. On weekends and public holidays as well as on the Bopfingen – Nördlingen section, the number of trips is significantly lower. Between Aalen and Lauchheim there is also line 109 on weekdays via the district of Hülen, but it runs much less frequently.

Lauchheim:
- 1 Upper gate (City gate), on the upper floor is a local museum. Visit by appointment, request in the town hall.
- 2 St. Peter and Paul (cath. Parish church), Hauptstrasse 16. The current church was built in 1870 according to the plans of the architect and railway engineer George of Morlok Completed in the neo-renaissance style. Only the Gothic west tower probably dates from the late Middle Ages.
- 3 Barbara Chapel (ev. church). The key can be borrowed from the town hall or the neighboring city pharmacy.
