Künzelsau is a small town in northeast of Baden-Wuerttemberg. It lies in the Hohenloher level in the Kochertal and is the district town of the Hohenlohe district.

Künzelsau was first mentioned in a document in 1098. In 1598 the city became part of the Principality of Hohenlohe, from 1806 it became part of Württemberg. Before the Second World War, the districts of Garnberg and Nagelsberg belonged to Künzelsau. During the municipal reform in 1973, the formerly independent towns of Amrichshausen, Belsenberg, Gaisbach, Kocherstetten, Laßbach, Nitzenhausen, Morsbach, Steinbach incorporated, in 1977 Sonnhofen was added. 1993 started the area Taläcker to settle, today a mountain railway connects this district with Künzelsau.

The city is on the federal highway B19that of Schwäbisch Hall to Bad Mergentheim leads. To the highway A6 are there to the junction Symbol: AS 42 Kupferzel only 9 km, also the junction Symbol: AS 41 at Neuenstein is only around 13 km away. The route on the L 1045 country road in Kochertal is more beautiful in terms of landscape, but more winding.

The city of Künzelsau itself is not particularly extensive. The at the Kocher at about 220 m above sea level. The sub-towns of Morsbach and Kocherstetten located near the NN can be easily reached by bike; the sub-towns on the left (Gaisbach, 380 m above sea level) and right (Amrichshausen, almost 400 m above sea level) of the river take a bit of effort.

The difference in altitude of 170 m from the 1 Valley station in Künzelsau for 2 Taläcker mountain station overcomes a funicular on a distance of approx. 1000 m in just 5 minutes.
