Ingelfingen was first mentioned in a document in 1080. The place has had market rights since 1323. From 1701 to 1805 Ingelfingen was the residence of the Hohenlohe Counts, after which it became part of Württemberg. In 1972/73 the 7 formerly independent places Criesbach, Diebach, Dörrenzimmern, Eberstal, Hermuthausen, Stachenhausen and Weldingsfelden were incorporated.

  • 4  Ingelfinger barrel (Viticulture Museum) (in the vineyards between Ingelfingen and Criesbach). The barrel was created in 2001/2002 and is the second largest barrel in southern Germany after the Dürkheim barrel, but before the barrel in Heidelberg Castle. The Viticulture Museum has no fixed opening times, the exhibits can be viewed from the outside through the windows.
