Krautheim is located on the Jagst and is a city in the Hohenloher level.

background

The place Krautheim was first mentioned in a document in 1096. In 1306 the place received city rights. From 1399 the place is under Mainz rule. In 1516 it is Götz von Berlichingen in the city and after Goethe he replies his famous saying to a Mainz bailiff. 1806 Krautheim becomes Badisch, through the administrative reform 1971/72 it comes to Hohenlohe district, the places Gommersdorf, Horrenbach, Klepsau, Neunstetten (Krautheim), Oberndorf (Krautheim), Altkrautheim, Oberginsbach Unterginsbach become districts of Krautheim.

The city is located at the northernmost point of the Jagst, the river bed of which is about 150 m deep in the Hohenlohe plain.
