Osterburken is a city in Building land in Baden-Wuerttemberg. Neighboring places are Beeches (Odenwald), Rosenberg, Ravenstein, Aristocratic home and Seckach.

The place Osterburken was first mentioned in writing in 822. In 1236 the Seligental monastery was founded here, and in 1356 Osterburken received town charter. After 1803 it came to the principality of Leiningen, only a few years later it became Baden. It belongs to the Neckar-Odenwald district in the administrative district of Karlsruhe. Since the municipal reform around 1975, the formerly independent municipalities of Bofsheim, Hemsbach and Schlierstadt have been districts of Osterburken.

Roman heritage
- 1 Römermuseum Osterburken (Branch of the State Archaeological Museum), Römerstrasse 4, 74706 Osterburken. Tel.: (0)6291-415266, Email: [email protected]. Camp life of the soldiers, a copy of a Mithras relief found here and the life of the Germanic neighbors are shown here. In the basement of the museum you get an insight into archaeological methods, among other things, numerous future exhibits are stored, which also illustrate the archiving procedure. In an extension of the museum, the covered, preserved remains of a Roman bathing building (part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site) can be seen and walked on from many sides on footbridges. Some clear models of the bathhouse complete the informative area of the museum.Open: open Tues-Sun from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., in summer until 6 p.m.Price: Adults € 4, reduced € 2.
- The Upper German Limes ran in a straight line as a border fortification from Osterburken to Welzheim . It was secured by watchtowers and forts. Remnants of it are 2 Annex fort and the following Cohort fortthat lie in place and here are described. To the south of it a border palisade has been faithfully reproduced, in the direction of Bofsheim you can still see the original course of the Limes. Well signposted and accessible by car.

- Cycling: Osterburken is on the sculpture cycle path and the German Limes cycle path
- The Sculpture bike path leads in a 77 km long loop, in the center of which is Osterburken, through the building land or the Neckar-Odenwald district. Under the motto "Sculptures on the cycle path - art in the landscape" you cycle along a total of 18 art installations on the cycle path. Works of art can be found at Seckach, Aristocratic home, Rosenheim and Ravenstein.
