Möckmühl is a city in Baden-Wuerttemberg, she lies in Heilbronn district
background
The old town of Möckmühl lies between the Jagst and Seckach rivers below Möckmühl Castle. The city was settled early, the first documentary mentions date from around 750. Möckmühl received city rights in 1250. A few years later the town became a possession of Hohenlohe. In 1445 it was sold to the Electoral Palatinate, and the castle and town were re-fortified with a wall in 1470. However, as early as 1504 Duke Ulrich succeeded in bringing the city under the rule of the Württemberg people. In 1519 it was Götz von Berlichingen Vogt at the castle, he was captured and in Heilbronn placed under arrest.
Since the district reform in 1973, Möckmühl has included the 4 districts of Bittelbronn, Korb, Ruchsen and Züttlingen. After that, between 1985 and 1995, the population grew again, mainly due to immigration from the east.
Möckmühl lies between the Building land, the Hohenloher level and the foothills of the Swabian-Franconian Forest. Neighboring places are Cheap home, Roigheim, Aristocratic home, Rams, Hardthausen, Neuenstadt and Neudenau.
