Rams is one of the smallest cities in Baden-Wuerttemberg and lies in Heilbronner Land at the Jagst.

First mentioned in a document in 774, city rights from the 13th century, but after that a good dozen usually argue Ganerbe to the common property. It was not until 1846 that Aries went entirely to Württemberg. The smaller, formerly Baden district of Unterkessach has belonged to Aries since 1971.

The next train station is in Möckmühl on the route Heilbronn-Wurzburg. The ex Jagst Valley Railway had a train station in Aries, but it has been closed.
