Schöntal is a community in Jagsttal in the Hohenlohe district. Measured against its population of almost 6000, it has a fairly large area. In the center is the former Cistercian monastery Schöntal.

The community Schöntal consists of the 9 districts Aschhausen, Berlichingen, Bieringen, Schöntal Monastery, Marlach, Oberkessach, Sindeldorf, Westernhausen and Winzenhofen, which merged in 1972/73. The name of the municipality was not chosen by chance: the properties of the former Schöntal monastery were demolished in 1803, and now they have come together again.
