Mosbach is a city in Neckar-Odenwald district in Baden-Wuerttemberg. Mosbach was first mentioned in a document in 826, from 1241 it was an imperial city. From 1362 to 1806 it belonged to the Electoral Palatinate, after which it became Baden.

background

Old town hall from 1557

The city of Mosbach is located on the Elz, it rises in the Odenwald Mudau and ends at Neckarelz in the Neckar. Even before the Second World War, the city had expanded, the Bergfeld settlement was established and Nüstenbach was incorporated. After the Second World War, the forest town was built out of the ground, and the town also expanded along the Hammerweg along the Elz. During the administrative reform of 1972-1975, the formerly independent communities of Diedesheim, Lohrbach, Neckarelz, Reichenbuch and Sattelbach were incorporated, and there are still a few places to live, such as the Schreckhof.

Mosbach is located at the transition from the building land to the Odenwald, although for the sake of simplicity the Elz can be viewed as the borderline. Neighboring towns of Mosbach are (clockwise) Waldbrunn, Limbach, Fahrbach, Elz Valley, Cheap home, Neckarzimmern, Hassmersheim, Obrigheim, Binau and Neckargerach.
