Phichit(Thai: พิจิตร) is the capital of the homonymous province in Northern Thailand.
background
Phichit is the setting of a widespread central Thai folk tale. This is about the struggle of the youthful hero Krai Thong with the mighty king of the crocodiles Phaya Chalawanwho can change his form and who stole the governor's beautiful daughter. Because of this legend, crocodiles are the symbol of the province. Crocodile figures are already set up at the entrance to the village. There is a park with a crocodile enclosure and a sculpture of a giant crocodile.
