What to do
Scuba diving is excellent Cerbical Islands, about 20 minutes by boat around the promontory. These rocky islets are part of a marine reserve that stretches from the strait to Sardinia, so there are many groupers, barracudas, moray eels and other smaller things up to neon tetras. Dive operators include Plongee Nature, based at 9 Av de Georges Pompidou opposite the marina. Around € 50 for a one-tank dive. If you later drive inland, many island roads reach altitudes above 1000m, so allow for an adequate interval after the surface.
Shopping
Porto Vecchio has several souvenir shops, as well as some shops selling Corsican cuisine specialties, such as wild boar sausage and local cheeses. There are several hypermarkets (larger than supermarkets) just north of town along the main road.
