Porto Venere (Portovénere in Ligurian, Portivène in the local variant) is a city in the Liguria.
To know
Porto Venere is an Italian town in the province of Spice and due to its urban territorial extension it is the smallest town in the province of La Spezia.
Since 1997 Porto Venere, together with the islands of Palmaria, Tino, Tinetto and the Cinque Terre has been included among the World Heritage Sites ofUNESCO.
The toponym Portovenere is internationally known as the most widespread variant, despite the municipal statute itself, by virtue of the consolidated historical tradition, provides for the detached form of the toponym (Porto Venere) in all official municipal documents and documents; the National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT), the lead and survey body for the Italian State, transcribes the attached form in its documents and censuses.

What see
- Religious architectures
- Parish church of San Lorenzo and sanctuary of the Madonna Bianca in the capital. The church was built by the Genoese in the 12th century [6] in Romanesque style and later restored and enlarged, with important changes, between 1494 and 1582. It preserves works of art, furnishings and sacred objects from the 14th and 16th centuries.
- Church of San Pietro in the capital. Built between the 5th century and the 13th century in Genoese Gothic style, it is perched on the rock of the Bocche di Porto Venere promontory. The church of San Pietro is the "Christian temple" mentioned by Eugenio Montale in a suggestive poem, dedicated to Porto Venere.
- Parish church of San Giovanni Battista in the hamlet of Fezzano. Built in 1740 with a single nave, it has several Baroque altars and an organ by the Genoese Luigi Ciurlo.
- Sanctuary-parish church of Nostra Signora delle Grazie in the hamlet of Le Grazie.
- Abbey of San Venerio on the Island of Tino. The first religious structure was built in the 7th century which was followed by a new building in the 11th century. Abandoned in the 15th century, it is now home to a small archaeological museum where objects and artifacts from the Roman era and monastic life are preserved.
- Ruins on the Tinetto Island of an early Christian oratory and a church dating back to the 11th century, perhaps linked to the cult of San Venerio, and with structural changes dating back to the 12th and 13th centuries. Also on the Tinetto, in the landing area to the east of the island, there is a chapel from the 5th or 6th century.
