Nowosądecki poviat - poviat in Poland in in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, established in 1999 as part of the administrative reform in Poland. Its seat is in the city Nowy Sącz.
It covers an area of 1,550.24 km2, has a population of 213,420, i.e. the population density is 137.7 and urbanization is 19.01%. 19,291 women live in cities, and 79,298 in villages.
Forests and forest areas cover 44% of the poviat's area, most of them in mountain communes: Rytro (72.8%), Łabowa (70.8%), Piwniczna (63.6%), Muszyna (61.2%), Krynica (57%), Kamionka Wielka (46.2%), Łącko (42.8%), Nawojowa (41.6%).
Agriculture plays an important economic role in the region: arable lands occupy 47.1%, including 20.6% meadows and pastures, orchards - 1.6%.
After World War II, the land of Nowy Sącz was incorporated into of the Krakow voivodeship, and Nowy Sącz became the seat of the poviat. As a result of the administrative reform in 1975, it was established Nowosądeckie voivodeship, abolished in 1999. Nowy Sącz again became the seat of the poviat.
Most of the district's area is covered by mountain and upland areas (foothills), as well as river valleys Dunajec with its main tributaries: Poprad and Tenement. These rivers separate the main mountain ranges of the Sącz region: Beskid Sądecki, Low Beskids and Beskid Wyspowysurrounding Sądecka Basin, which is the main settlement of the region. The length of streams and rivers in the Nowy Sącz area is 1,900 km. The largest river is Dunajec and further: Poprad, The Nawojowska tenement house. There are no natural lakes in the poviat, but as a result of human activity, artificial - Lake Rożnowskie (it got its name from Rożnów Foothills), with a length of up to 20 km.
It covers a significant part of the county Poprad Landscape Park.
There are over 30 Orthodox churches in the poviat, most of them active, some of them as filial Catholic churches.

Tourism is the key area of the region's economy. The Nowy Sącz region meets almost all the requirements of tourists - you can find here mountains, a lake, backwoods and a city full of monuments, Lemko wooden Orthodox churches and monumental churches, as well as the most modern sports infrastructure and a number of famous sanatoriums and spas. There is also a village in the poviat Kamianna - famous center honey treatment.
