The Słupca County is located in the central-eastern part of the Wielkopolska Province; it is characterized by an elongated meridional shape. It is adjacent to 4 poviats of the Greater Poland Voivodeship: from the north-west with Gniezno poviat, on the west side of the district of Września, from the south with Pleszew, from the east with Konin. From the north with Mogilno poviat, belonging to of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship.

In terms of population, the Słupca County ranks 21st among the counties of Wielkopolska. The urbanization rate for the Słupca poviat is 29.4% (17,337 inhabitants of cities), which means that the vast majority of the poviat's population lives in villages - over 70%. This fact results from the existence of only two small urban centers in Słupca and Zagórów in the poviat of Słupca.
