Urban centers

  • Cordoba (Córdoba)
  • Almodóvar del Río - Town dominated by an imposing castle of Roman origin restored by its owner and open to the public.
  • Baena - Typical Andalusian town, renowned for the production of the olive oil of the same name with a controlled denomination.
  • Bujalance - Ancient town of Celtiber origin which has returned archaeological material of the time turdetana.
  • Iznájar - Picturesque village of 4,000 inhabitants marked by a strong immigration interrupted in the 60s of the twentieth century with the arrival of Scandinavian tourists who fell in love with it.
  • Montilla - Town renowned for its architectural heritage.
  • Priego de Córdoba - a town of 22,000 inhabitants nicknamed "Ciudad del agua"by the multitude of springs that flow in its territory and"Joya del Barroco Cordobés"for the abundance of buildings in the Baroque style.
  • Zuheros - Characteristic village with white houses grouped around the ruins of a Moorish castle, Zuheros is located at 650 m. s.l.m. in a panoramic position over the dense olive groves of the plain below.

  • Madinat al-Zahra ' (Medina Azahara) - Ruins of a palace built in 936 by the first Andalusian caliph, ʿAbd al-Rahmān III.
  • Sierra de Hornachuelos Natural Park (Parque natural Sierra de Hornachuelos) - Park which occupies a portion of the Sierra Morena and which takes its name from the village of the same name where its entrance is located. Furrowed by tributaries of the Guadalquivir, it is a wooded area populated by birds of prey, in particular by black hawks.
  • Las Sierras Subbéticas Natural Park (Parque natural de las Sierras Subbéticas) - In 2006 it was recognized by UNESCO as a geopark and therefore included in the European Geoparks Networks. It has several paths and routes including the "Vía Verde de la Subbética" which follows the route of a railway no longer in use.
