Qift (also Quft, Kift, Kuft, Arabic:قفط, Qifṭ), the ancient Coptus (Greek Κόπτος, Roman: Justinianopolis, ancient Egyptian: Gebtu, Coptic: Ⲕⲉ ϥ ⲧ, Keft), is a small town with around 22,000 inhabitants[1] in Upper Egypt in the GovernorateQinā on the east side of the Nile, about 43 kilometers north of Luxor.

In the street
The city can be easily reached by car or taxi from the nearby one Luxor out. It is located on the trunk road Qinā–Edfu.
By train
Qifṭ is on the railway line Cairo–Aswan. However, only very few express trains stop here, so you have to use passenger trains e.g. from Luxor is dependent on.

In the east of the city are the remains of ancient temples. A visit is only possible with a permit from the Supreme Antiquities Authority in Cairo.
