Rabat is the capital of Morocco and after Casablanca the second largest city in the country. It is located in the north-west of Morocco. Rabat is also called: "The white royal city". Rabat is also the capital of the region Rabat-Salé-Zemmour-Zaer with around 2.37 million inhabitants.

Rabat is one of the four royal cities of Morocco (Fez, Marrakech, Meknes and Rabat). Rabat has been the capital of the Alawid dynasty since 1912 and has been lavishly expanded as a result. Mohammed VI has been since 1999. King of Morocco. Rabat has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2012.

By train
The high-speed train Al Boraq connects Rabat six times a day Casablanca (Journey time 50 minutes) and Tangier (1:20 hours). Timetable information and booking on the website of the Moroccan State Railways ONCF.
Normal trains run to / from every half hour during the day Casablanca (1 hour driving time) and every two hours from / to Marrakech (3½ hours). There are connections with approximately every hour Meknes (Travel time 2½ hours) and Fez (a good 3 hours). In addition, there is a direct connection with twice a day Taourirt (7½ hours) and Oujda at the Moroccan-Algerian border (9 hours).
Rabat has 3 train stations (from north to south):
- 2 Gare Salé Tabriquet in the neighboring town of Salé
- 3 Gare Rabat Ville (Altstadtbahnhof)
- 4 Gare Rabat Agdal (Central Station)
It is interesting that the entire old town of Rabat is tunnelled over a length of 2 km.
By bus
In the street
From Germany (Erfurt as the assumed center of Germany) you drive to Rabat through all of France (1,280 km) and all of Spain (1,400 km). Then off Algeciras with the regular ferry to Tangier or Tanger-Med. Then about the (Autorouté de Rabat) in about 4-5 hours (240 km) to Rabat.
By boat
There is no scheduled transfer by ship from Rabat. The weekly ferry from the Canaries has been discontinued.
