Riehen is one of the two rural communities in the canton Basel city. Although Riehen has a good 20,000 inhabitants, the population still likes to refer to their town as a village. Riehen is on the border to Germany. The world-famous Beyeler Museum is located in Riehen.

By plane
The EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg is about 20 km west of Riehen. The journey takes place with the bus line 50 to the train station Basel SBB (7 departures per hour), then with the S 6 to Riehen.
By train
The S 6 the Basel S-Bahn connects Riehen with the Basel Bad train stations. Bf. And Basel SBB, where there is a connection to long-distance traffic. In the other direction the S6 runs over Loerrach to Zell im Wiesental.

The Beyeler Foundation was opened on October 21, 1997 in the park of the Berowergut.
