Fiumicino

  • 1 Leonardo da Vinci International AirportP Geography 3 b.png (Fiumicino) (32 km from the center of Rome).DATE: FCO There are three terminals: A for domestic flights, B for both domestic and international connections, and C for international connections only. The terminals are connected by a monorail connection.

There is a direct train connection from Fiumicino, Leonardo Express, To Termini station from 7.37 am and then every hour from 8 am to 10 pm. The trip takes about half an hour and costs € 14.00 (June 2011). Fiumicino also has a local train connection to Ostiense, Trastevere and Tiburtina stations (€ 8.00, October 2011). From Ostiense and Tiburtina stations, it is possible to change to the Rome Metro and continue on to Termini Station.

The CO.TRAL local bus directly from the airport to the train station costs € 3.60 and the journey takes just over an hour. The bus stop is 100 meters from the exit of the Arrivals Terminal (B&C) to the left and tickets can be bought at tobacco shops (Tabaccheria, blue signs). From the cheapest airport, however, you can get to the city center by a combination of bus and metro. By local bus from the airport first to Magliana metro station (€ 1.60) and from there by metro line B to the center (€ 1.00). The bus has the sign "Fiumicino-Porto-Magliana". CO.TRAL buses run from Fiumicino to Termini Station every 90 minutes at night and take about 45 minutes.

A taxi ride by Roman taxi from Fiumicino to Rome costs € 40.00 (in 2008) including a trip for up to four people with luggage. The price is valid for journeys destined within the walls of Aurelian, ie in the center of Rome. Official taxis in the municipality of Fiumicino charge € 60.00 for the trip (in 2008). The price difference is practically due to the fact that Fiumicino taxis do not have to follow the fixed rate of € 40.00 agreed by Rome taxis, but can charge for the trip according to normal tariffs. So the traveler has to save money to make sure the taxi is the official taxi in Rome.

When you step out of the airport, you will immediately have a wide variety of ride providers. Official taxis are lined up along the street, among these taxis there are also taxis for five people (one more seat can be raised in front). Best of all, feel free to approach the taxis in the taxi queue to ask for a ride. Cheat taxis are distinguished by the fact that they are offered to you "aggressively" and asked for an overcharge. The scammers have, for example, an orange tag around their necks that they claim to have official taxis. So everything goes smoothly when you ask for a ride directly from the queue of white taxis.

Ciampino

  • 2 Giovan Battista Pastine International Airport (Ciampino) (15 km south-east of Rome near the GRA ring road for north / south and east / west motorways).DATE: CIA

A direct bus connection from Ciampino to Termini costs either € 8.00 for Terravision [2] by bus, € 6.00 Sit bus by car [3] or € 5.00 for less frequent Schiaffin [4] by bus.

There is a bus service from the airport to Ciampino Station, with trains to Termini Station every 15 minutes from 06:30 to 23:00. There is an hourly bus service from Ciampino Airport to Anagnina Metro Station. There is also a free shuttle bus from the airport for the elderly and disabled. The trip must be booked in advance.

The cheapest way from Ciampino airport to the city center is also a combination of bus and metro. Take the CO.TRAL / Schiaffin bus from outside the terminal to Anagnina Metro Station, from where you take the metro to the city center (€ 1.00).

A taxi ride by taxi from Ciampino to Rome costs € 30.00 (in 2008) including a trip for up to four people with luggage. The price is valid for journeys destined within the walls of Aurelian, ie in the center of Rome.

By train

  • 3 Rome Central Station. Termini is one of the largest stations in Italy. Good train connections for example To Milan, Florence and To Naples. Night trains also stop at Tiburtina Station, located three kilometers east of Termini Station.

Move

Walking

Despite the varied public transport offer, the tourist gets the most out of their holiday in Rome by walking downtown. Much of Rome’s city center is quiet for light traffic and the major attractions are therefore most easily reached on foot. Some of the main streets will be closed to traffic on Sundays.

Traffic in Rome is more chaotic than in Finland. There are hardly any walkways and the speeds are dizzying. Caution should be exercised but there is still no need to fear traffic in any way.

Rome

There are two metro lines in Rome that intersect at Termini Station. The metro network is constantly being developed. A single ticket costs about a euro and is valid for 75 minutes on public transport or one metro ride. The shabby look of subway trains is not to be confused.

A weekly metro / bus ticket for tourists is a great purchase. You get it for 24 euros (June 10, 2014) and you can travel for 7 days without restriction in buses, subways and trams, as well as to certain stops (maps on the red, suburb) also on local trains. A 3-day ticket costs € 16 (June 10, 2014) and a single-trip ticket (100 minutes of travel time from stamping) € 1.5. The ticket has its own signature and date of birth, and the first time the metro reader stamps the card automatically. On the bus, the stamping must be done by the "yellow machine" itself. In addition to the ticket, carry a copy of your passport for ticket checks. You only need a ticket when you get to the metro platform, the ticket opens the gate to there. In the case of first use, the machine also punches a ticket and marks the last day of validity (calendar day, until 24:00). On buses, you just step in from the center door of the bus, you don’t have to show the ticket (sometimes there are a larger number of uniformed inspectors at the piers) and you don’t stamp it just once, which is remarkably convenient with a weekly ticket. Rome's metro network and bus connections learn in a couple of days and traveling is effortless and easy. You are far from wise if you get to know Rome’s metro network before you travel. The hotel provides guidance on getting around the city.

Line B of the Rome Metro (Line B) was opened on February 9, 1955. Line A was opened in 1980. Line C is scheduled for completion in the near future.

Stay safe

Rooma on yhtä turvallinen kuin mikä tahansa muu eurooppalainen suurkaupunki. Älä kanna arvokasta tavaraa taskuissasi ja äläkä näytä turistilta; se on takuuvarma keino herättää taskuvarkaiden huomio. Jos huomaat näpistyksen olevan meneillään, huuda rohkeasti Aiuto, Ladro! (Apua, varas!). Roomalaiset eivät suhtaudu hyvin taskuvarkaisiin. I recommend watching example video Italian taskuvarkaista. Väkivaltarikokset ovat harvinaisia.

Vältä öisin liikkumista Terminin aseman etelä- ja itäpuolella ja Colosseumin ympäristössä.

Pohjoismaalaisen vaikea olla näyttämästä Italiassa turistilta. Pidä pientä rahaa taskuissa, millä voit ostaa pienet asiat. Maksa ravintolassa isommalla rahalla, jotta aina käytettävissä pientä.

Stay healthy
