The Thanon Sukhumvit (English Sukhumvit Road; National Road 3) leads from the center of Bangkok to Samut Prakan (and beyond further direction Chachoengsao, Chon Buri, Pattaya). However, it is often very congested, especially in the urban area of Bangkok, but also as far as Samut Prakan during rush hour. You can often get faster on the Thanon Kanchanaphisek (Outer Bangkok Ring Road, Highway 9), which crosses Thanon Sukhumvit at the Erawan Museum.
By boat
A 2 ferry connects Samut Prakan with Phra Samut Chedi on the opposite side of the Chao Phraya River.

- 5 Wat Phra Samut Chedi (directly across from Samut Prakan on the opposite bank of the river, accessible by ferry). Famous temple with white pagoda (Chedi), donated by King Rama II in 1827/1828. The pagoda is illuminated at night.
- 6 Wat Asokaram (7 km south of Samut Prakan). Big and impressive temple. The unusual, pyramid-shaped pagoda has 13 points (one large and 12 smaller).
- 7 Mueang Boran (7.5 km southeast of Samut Prakan). The open-air museum, which claims to be the largest in the world, is shaped like Thailand on an area of 128 hectares and shows replicas of buildings and scenes from the history of Thailand.
- 8 Wat Khun Samut Chin. Buddhist temple on an island in the Wadden Sea, surrounded by mangroves. To reach it, one has to go from Phra Samut Chedi with one Songthaeo (Pickup with benches on the loading area) Drive towards Sakhla and let yourself be dropped off at a bridge in the middle of nowhere. There you can charter a boat, you tell the boatswain that you want to go to Wat Khun Samut. Then he drops you off at a pier, from which it is a 40-minute walk to the temple. The temple used to be on the mainland, but erosion has spread the sea and swallowed the village - with the exception of the temple. This was facilitated by the cutting down of mangroves and the creation of aquaculture tanks for fish and shrimp farming.
