San Bartolomé de Tirajana is a municipality in the south of the island Gran Canaria.

San Bartolomé de Tirajana With an area of 333 km², it is the largest municipality in Gran Canaria and yet unknown to most tourists. On the other hand, some parts of the municipality are known all the better: these are the coastal towns Maspalomas, Playa del Inglés, San Agustin and Bahía Feliz, they emerged only around 50 years ago in a landscape that was previously considered a worthless desert. At most it is still known Fataga in the Valley of the Thousand Palms, while the actual main town and administrative seat of the municipality of San Bartolomé is hardly known, not even by its old Canarian name Fagotwho translates Place of the people means.

The place San Bartolomé can be reached from the holiday resorts in the south via the GC-60standing on the slopes of the picturesque gorge Barranco de Fataga north to the old volcanic crater of Tirajana and then on to Tejeda goes. There is another driveway on the GC-65 above Santa Lucia de Tirajana.
