Introduction
Santa Elena, Ascensión and Tristán de Acuña (in English, Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha) is an overseas territory belonging to the United Kingdom. It comprises several island territories in the South Atlantic Ocean, south-west of the coast of Africa: the ascension island to the north, the saint helena island to the center and the archipelago of Tristan de Acuña to the south. The distances between the three island groups are enormous: 1,300 km between Ascensión and Santa Elena, and from the latter to Tristán de Acuña more than 2,700 km.
Understand
This is not really a country in all the usual senses of the word, but rather an administrative convenience for the Foreign and Commonwealth Secretariat of the United Kingdom and it was created on September 1, 2009, when a new constitution came into force giving the three islands a level playing field within this "country".
That means that all relevant information is provided and kept in the equivalent sections of the three individual islands (separated by many hundreds of miles) instead of here.

The St. Helena pound is on par with the British pound, which is accepted everywhere alongside the South African rand and the euro. Pounds are subdivided into 100 pennies .
The Tristan da Cunha archipelago is more than a couple thousand kilometers from Saint Helena, and Saint Helena pounds rarely go that far, which is why the people of Tristan da Cunha tend to use British coins and banknotes in their instead, when they are not bartering.
The costs are about 30% higher than in the UK, except for vices.
