This route develops along the religious places of Santo Stefano Quisquina and at the same time allows you to tackle sections in contact with nature.
Background
The city of Santo Stefano Quisquina is famous for being linked to the cult of Santa Rosalia who from this place decided to leave for Palermo where she would take refuge. But in the city there are also other related places of worship such as the mother church dedicated to San Giacinto Giordano Ansalone, who died in Japan as a martyr of the faith. Finally, the cult of San Calogero to which a small church is dedicated.
Who is it for?
This route extends for about 15 km and has a vertical drop of 709 meters. It can be tackled on foot or by bicycle. For some stretches you can use the car, where the road allows it.
Considering the distances and the differences in height, it is advisable to be equipped at least with water and the possibility of wearing comfortable clothes.

The path begins in front of the 1 Mother Church of Santo Stefano Quisquina dedicated to San Giacinto Giordano Ansalone. From here you leave the city in the direction of the cemetery (ie towards the south) where continuing you will take a dirt road that climbs up to the next stage.
From the Mother Church in Pizzo San Calogero

Once you have undertaken the climb that leads to San Calogero you go up through a series of hairpin bends and reach the 2 little church placed in a panoramic point at an altitude of 924 m.
From Pizzo San Calogero to Serra Moneta
The route continues reaching up to an altitude of 1000 m along a wooded area called 3 Serra Moneta.
From Serra Moneta to the Hermitage of Santa Rosalia
At this point the path begins its descent reaching the lower point near the at an altitude of 911 m. Then you go up to re-enter the wooded area that constitutes the Serra Quisquina wood. Here we come to4 Hermitage of Santa Rosalia, where it is possible to stop and visit the Sanctuary inside.
From the Hermitage of Santa Rosalia to the Andromeda Theater

After the Hermitage, continue along the wood for a few kilometers, climb up to an altitude of 1140 m and then descend again passing by 5 Andromeda Theater also called Art farm rocca Reina being an artistic complex with paid admission.
From the theater go down the road to return to the starting point.

The itinerary may involve some difficulties linked to the steep climbs and the heat, or during the winter, the cold opposite.
