The well-known City of Temples is the capital of the Agrigento area. Known worldwide thanks to Valley of the Temples, since 1997 UNESCO World Heritage Site, Akragas, was one of the most important cities of the Magna Grecia. Today Agrigento is full of historic buildings, museums, churches and squares.

- Aragon - 4 km from the built-up area is the Macalube integral nature reserve among extraordinary landscapes characterized by arid and muddy soils originating from eruptive phenomena (Vulcanelli of Macalube).
- Canicattì - 15 km from Racalmuto, Canicattì is a large town with more than 35 000 inhabitants and an interesting medieval center.
- Caves - Among limestone landscapes where numerous caves open up, Caves it is a small agricultural center which is believed to lie on the site of the ancient Erbesso, mentioned by Polybius and destroyed by the Romans during the First Punic War.

Founded in the 6th century BC as a Greek colony, Agrigento became one of the most important cities in the Mediterranean world. Its supremacy can still be seen in the ruins of the marvelous Doric temples that dominated the old city. Open-air excavation areas allow to shed light on the cities of the late Hellenic and Roman periods and on the burial practices of its inhabitants of the early Christian era.

The beach is theoretically off-limits to the public due to geological hazards, but locals go there anyway. On the site there is a former barracks of the Guardia di Finanza today in ruins.

On appointment.. The beginning of the construction is not known precisely, but it is assumed that the primitive abbey can date back to the 13th century. The large monumental complex, an institution built to house the religious of the Benedictine Order and then transferred to the Olivetan Congregation, began in the second half of the 16th century and was completed about a century later, in 1644. With the introduction of subversive laws, the patrimony it was expropriated from the Church and sold to private individuals who have maintained it for generations. The complex includes two cloisters now used as accommodation and the church in ruins due to the Belice earthquake.

- The path, which is part of the Vie Sacre di Sicilia project, is made up of royal tracks, mule tracks, paths and disused railways. Funded by the Regional Department of Agriculture, Rural Development and Mediterranean Fishing, it was officially inaugurated on 4 September 2016.
