Adriano Palace is a city of Sicily.
To know
Palazzo Adriano owes its fame mainly to being the film set of the Oscar-winning film New Cinema Paradiso of Giuseppe Tornatore. Many places remember the film and the days in which the scenes were shot such as Piazza Umberto I which, due to its characteristic shape, has no equal in the whole district.
Palazzo Adriano is part of the Eparchy of Piana degli Albanesi being a community of Arbereshe origin, despite having lost the language that survives in prayers, it maintains the rite of the founding fathers that is the Byzantine or Catholic rite of the Eastern rite of Greek-Albanian language.
At the same time, the Catholic or Roman Rite is present, although the two communities are in a minority and live in serene communion.
How to orient yourself
- Via Vittorio Emanuele II: called by the inhabitants of Palazzos "Strata Latina".
- Via Francesco Crispi: called by the inhabitants of Palazzos "Strata ranni", as well as being the longest street in the town, there is also the childhood home of Francesco Crispi.
Neighborhoods
- San Nicola district: it is the oldest district of the town where, according to tradition, the Albanian refugees arrived on 1 August 1482 passing through the arch of the Madonna Entrata, the district has the San Nicola hill and the homonymous church located in Salita SS. Crucifix, is the oldest in the country.
- Fontana Grande district: takes its name from the homonymous street "Salita Funtana Ra '", we find an ancient paper mill, the Church of Santa Maria del Monte Carmelo of the Latin rite and the communal wash house of the fascist era (1938).

- 1 Castle of Palazzo Adriano. The original nucleus of the castle dates back to the Frederick era, that is the thirteenth century, while the visible parts are from the Bourbon period of the eighteenth century.
- 2 Church of Maria Santissima del Carmelo, Via XX Settembre, 61. This church originally belonged to the Greek-Albanian community and later became a Latin rite church. The interior was used for filming related to the cinema of the film Nuovo cinema Paradiso. Inside are kept the simulacra of St. Joseph and of the Most Holy Mary of Carmel, carried in procession every first Sunday in September.

- 3 Church of Maria Santissima Assunta, piazza Umberto I. Byzantine rite church located in the central square, erected in 1532 and subsequently enlarged in 1770. Two sundials are placed on the side facade. Inside are the simulacra of Sant'Antonio Abate and the Immaculate Conception. It is considered the largest among the Byzantine rite churches of Sicily and Calabria.
- 4 Church of Maria Santissima del Lume, Piazza Umberto I. This church of 1747 located in the main square is instead that of the Latin rite. The side bell tower is equipped with a mechanical clock from the 19th century.
- 5 Church of San Nicola. This Byzantine rite church was built in 1490 by Albanian refugees. After a series of refurbishment works in the following centuries it suffered damage during the Second World War and due to lightning in 1963. In 1968 it was damaged by the Belice earthquake and remained closed until 2018 when it was reopened after half a century of inactivity. The interior features splendid stuccos and frescoes, in addition to the simulacrum of the Patron Saint St. Nicholas of Myra and the 'Vara' of the Holy Crucifix
- 6 Municipal wash house, via XX Settembre. Built in 1938 at the behest of Benito Mussolini himself who, visiting the town, saw some women on their knees washing clothes at the springs of Fontana Grande (at the end of today's Via XX Settembre). The building was restored a few years ago and still has the symbols of the fasces.

- 7 "New Cinema Paradiso" Museum, Piazza Umberto I, ☎ 39 091 834 9933.
Mon-Sun 9: 00-13: 00 and 15: 00-19: 00. The museum remembers the shooting of the film at Palazzo Adriano through photos and memories. We discover many background such as the fact that the Cinema Paradiso on the square was a temporary building not far from the fountain.
- 8 Albanian culture museum (Arbëreshe), Climb Real Casina. It preserves the liturgical vestments of the Byzantine rite and the traditional Albanian costumes.
- 9 Piazza Umberto I. In addition to being the main square of the town, it is in everyone's memory for being the square of the film Nuovo Cinema Paradiso. In the evening when there are few people it is easy to remember near the octagonal fountain the crazy character who ran along the square shouting "the square is mine, the square is mine!".
- 10 Totò's house in "New Cinema Paradiso", via Molinello 110. Totò was the child who attended the Paradiso cinema.
- 11 Alfredo's house in "New Cinema Paradiso", Via Chiara. The house is located under the arch.
- 12 Childhood home of Francesco Crispi, Via Crispi. This was the house where Francesco Crispi, politician and prime minister of the Kingdom of Italy, lived as a child. There is a commemorative plaque on site.
