The Saterland(Seelterlound) is a community in Lower Saxony, it is located in the district of Cloppenburg in the northwest of Oldenburg Münsterland.

The Saterland lies on a sand island surrounded by moors, which extends along the Said Ems extends. It was settled by Frisians around 1100. In this once inaccessible region, her Sater Frisian language(Seeltersk) received, it is still spoken by around 2,000 people today. The Saterland is therefore one of the smallest European linguistic islands.
