Schierke is a well-known resort in the resin. The climatic health resort is located at an altitude of 600 - 650 m in a wooded high valley between Chunks and Wurmberg, the two highest peaks in the Harz Mountains. For many travelers, Schierke is the "base camp" for climbing the Brocken and tours into the wilderness of the Hochharz. Schierke is also known for the Brocken Railway, which climbs the highest mountain in the mountains from here.

Tourist Attractions
- Chunks - Ascent with the Brockenbahn or on foot possible. Cyclists can use the traffic-free, asphalted Brockenstrasse. If you want, you can be transported up to the mountain in a horse-drawn vehicle instead of by train.
- Wurmberg - can be reached from Schierke on foot via the Wurmbergsteig (approx. 4 km easy with 350 meters of altitude).

Rock cliffs around Schierke
- Inguinal cliff - The rock lies north of Schierke in the area of the wild Hohnekamm 51 ° 46 '54 "N.10 ° 41 ′ 39 ″ E. From a height of 901 m you have a wonderful panoramic view. You can see Wernigerode, the Wurmberg and of course the Brocken as well. Access: from Schierke / town center (church) to the train station at the Brockenbahn. Then over the mountain path (white board marked with a green square) up to the Hohnekamm. The rustic forest path is partly rocky. Distance from Schierke about 4 km easy with about 300 meters of altitude. The Leistenklippe can be easily visited together with the Trudenstein on a short circular hike.
- Trudenstein - Smaller rock cliff on Glashüttenweg (main hiking trail "Drei Annen Hohne" station on the Harzquerbahn to Brockenstraße). From the secured vantage point you have a beautiful view over the vast forests of the Eastern Harz. Location: 51 ° 46 ′ 20 ″ N.10 ° 41 ′ 48 ″ E
- Snore cliffs - The two imposing, approximately 25 m high granite towers are located in the forest south of Schierke. A rock tower can be climbed using a ladder. Winter sports
Nordic skiing
The sometimes quite challenging Schierker trails are mostly on the shady northern slope of the Wurmberg and in the forest valley of the Kalten Bode towards the triangular pile. The 40 km long network has an altitude of between 650 and 850 m. At the triangular pile there is a connection to the Hochharz cross-country ski trail network in the area of Torfhaus, Oderbrück, Sonnenberg and Stieglitzecke.

Schierke does not have a noteworthy nightlife to offer. On April 30th, one of the largest Walpurgis celebrations in the Harz takes place in Schierke every year. If you want to celebrate, it is best (as everywhere in the Harz Mountains) to organize accommodation a year in advance.
