Background

The origin of Stalettì dates back to Roman times, as evidenced by the numerous archaeological finds found in the area.

Near the main street of the town, Via Grande, there are ancient lime kilns and the watchtower that overlooks the surrounding area.

In 1400 the town underwent an important demographic increase which was interrupted years later due to the incursions of the Saracens.

An earthquake in 1783 caused extensive damage to the country and in particular to its cultural heritage.
