Steinbach is the third largest city in Manitoba to Canada.

Understand

Steinbach is located in the south-east of Manitoba. The city is bordered by the rural municipalities of Hanover north, west and east and Broquerie South. The name of the city "Steinbach" means "Stony Brook" in German. The city was founded by German Mennonites fromUkraine in 1874. The city still has a strong Mennonite and German influence today. Over 50% of the city's residents claim to be of German descent and a few conservative Mennonite groups still reside there. The city stands out for the fact that there is no river or railway crossing it. So throughout its history, the road has been the only way to access it.

The main industry in the city is agriculture, but it also serves as a commercial hub for the region. In fact, Steinbach is currently the third fastest growing city in the world. By car

There are two main roads serving the city: roads 12 and 52 which intersect in the city center. From Winnipeg, we can take the Trans-Canada Highway, i.e. Highway 1, east on 40 km to join route 12 which must be taken south on 20 km to reach Steinbach. Route 12 also connects the city to the border american where it becomes route 313 at Minnesota.
