Network maps of Japanese railway companies for tourists there is, besides that Japan Rail Pass, which is valid on all state routes, from the individual railway companies as regionally limited offers, which in view of the generally high fares still a certain saving compared to Can bring single tickets for real short-term visitors (for less than three weeks they are only attractive in exceptional cases). What they have in common is that they are only sold in certain large train stations (at special counters, at least 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and almost always only then and only to foreigners who have the status in their passports temporary visitor have entered. The purchase of a voucher (exchange voucher) abroad is often also possible online, redemption must be made within 90 days. It is to be assessed positively that these offers can also be bought in Japan itself.
There are also pass offers available to the general public that are valid for individual regions, possibly with discounted travel to a metropolitan region. These are often not sold during the main travel season. Often there are restrictions regarding the reservation obligation, particularly fast express trains and the availability of the first class (green car).

Private railways
Especially in and around the metropolitan areas there are numerous private railway companies that (can) have special offers. These are too numerous and specific to list them all here.
The 2 or 4 days valid would be interesting for visitors Alles Nikko Passport, the Tobu line from Tokyo-Asakusa to the said world heritage. The company is well represented in the greater Osaka area Kintetsuwhose passports also have the Kansai International Airport, Nara, Kyoto, Nagaoya, Iga and Ise-shima, significantly cheaper than JR, include (2 or 4 days: 2000/3800 ¥).
