Sulingen is a city in the district Diepholz. It is located about 50 km south of Bremen on the Lower Saxony Asparagus Route. It was first mentioned in a document in 1029 AD and received city rights in 1929. It consists of the city center Sulingen, as well as the districts Rathlosen, Groß Lessen, Nordsulingen, Lindern and Klein Lessen. The eponymous river Sule flows through Sulingen.

There are 2 primary schools, 1 high school and 1 high school in the village. There is also a vocational school in Sulingen. There are also numerous childcare facilities available.

By plane

The nearest commercial airports with international connections are in 1 Hanover and 2 Bremen.

By train

There is currently no rail connection for passenger traffic. However, efforts are being made to reactivate the existing Diepholz-Sulingen-Nienburg and Bünde-Bassum rail network.

By bus

From 3 ZOB Numerous buses run to the localities and to the places with train connections: Bassum, Diepholz and Nienburg.

The bypasses of the B214 (to Celle and Diepholz) and B61 (to Minden and Bassum).

mobility

Public bike tours are planned and carried out by volunteer organizers from April to October. Participation is free, except for bus tours. Registration is not required, the meeting point is the 1  Northern Suletal car park, Lindenstrasse, 27232 Sulingen. at the church cemetery.

The short trip (approx. 30 km) starts at 1.30 p.m. on every 2nd Saturday of the month. The day tour (60 km) starts at around 9 a.m. on every 4th Saturday of the month. The tours take place regardless of the weather.

Furthermore, there are three cycle tours set out on a new cycle touring map by the Tourism Working Group, the City of Sulingen and the State Office for Geoinformation and Land Surveying:

  • The Sulingen tour leads around the city and to the individual districts.
  • The farm tour leads to the neighboring communities and also partly to the districts.
  • The pleasure tour also takes you on different routes through the neighboring communities, with the opportunity to visit different localities.

The tours have different lengths, from 25 to 50 km, and for a fee, the bike tours are accompanied by local tour guides.

  • 5  Meierdamm with half-timbered house and water mill, Northern Suletal. Sulingen's oldest building and a water mill are located here
  • At the 6 Crossing Lange Strasse / Lindenstrasse there are the historic buildings of the old guard, the old mayor's office, the community center, the Lüning grain distillery with another watermill, the Nicolai church and the council pharmacy.
  • 7 The newspaper reader, a work by the artist Robert Enders, who was born and died in Sulingen, is located further along Lindenstrasse towards the north. Other works by him are:

Through the City administration city ​​tours are arranged by trained tour guides on foot or by bus. Costs per group: € 25 for the first hour, € 20 for each additional hour.

A weekly market takes place on a section of Langen Strasse on Wednesday and Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

In the south is the landscape and recreational lake, used only by the residents 12 City lake called. Different paths lead around the lake. You can swim here in summer, but there is no lifeguard. In winter the lake can be used for ice skating. In the vicinity of the lake there is a toboggan hill, a Kneipp water treading basin and the motorhome parking space.

There are two parks in Sulingen. The 13 Mühlenhofpark is located next to the Lüning grain distillery, zum 14 Bürgerpark you get there if you orientate yourself towards the indoor swimming pool.

The cultural association offers various events throughout the year in the city theater, in the old mayor's office and in the Nicolai Church.

In the southeast of the city center is the 8  Sports park With 5 grass pitches, an all-weather area (with floodlights), a skater facility (with fun box, rail and quater pipe), a beach volleyball field, a basketball facility, various athletics facilities, a children's adventure playground, a fin lane and a functional sports building with a clubhouse.

In the largest forest area in Sulingen, the Rathlos Gehege, there is a forest adventure trail. There you can perform various exercises based on the signs that have been put up. The 56 meter high Flintenberg is also located in the Rathlos enclosure.

In Langen Straße there are various retail stores, as well as pharmacies, opticians, jewelers and travel agencies. There are also numerous supermarkets, some in the outskirts, spread across the city.
