Surin(Thai: สุรินทร์) is the capital of the eponymous province in Northeast Thailand.

Nok Air offers daily combined flight and bus connections from Bangkok-Don Mueang via Buri Ram to Surin. The combined flight and travel time is 3:10 hours. The flight price is around 2800 baht, saver prices start at around 1200 baht.
- train
Surin has a train station on the northeast line (Bangkok – Ubon Ratchathani) of the Thai State Railways. There are nine daily connections from Bangkok to Surin. The scheduled journey time is between 6:30 (Special Express) and 8:20 hours (Ordninary), and there are often delays. The journey in trains of the simplest class is free, in the Special Express it costs 489 baht (including meal; as of March 2015).

The state bus company (The Transport Co. Ltd.) offers 12 daily bus connections from Bangkok to Surin and back. The journey time is approx. 7 hours, the fare is between 259 and 518 baht depending on the car class (as of March 2015).
- automobile
Surin is 431 kilometers from Bangkok by road. The city of Surin is not on any major highway. As far as Amphoe Prakhan Chai (Buri Ram Province), the route runs on the relatively well-developed national roads 2 and 24. The last 65 kilometers are then on the smaller roads No. 2208 and 226. The journey time is usually around five and a half hours.
To Ubon Ratchathani and Nakhon Ratchasima it is 176 or 177 kilometers (two and a half hours).

There are still some ancient Khmer ruins around the city:
- Prasat Sikhoraphum (ปราสาท ศรี ข ร ภูมิ). Ruins of a Khmer temple from the 12th century, the same period as Angkor Wat - The small town of Sikhoraphum is located 35 kilometers east of the provincial capital on the national road 226 and has a station on the Surin – Si Sa Ket railway line (13 connections daily; journey time according to plan approx. 25 to 40 minutes); from the train station it is 1.6 km to the temple complex - Wikipedia article.,
- Prasat Hin Ban Phluang (ปราสาท หิน บ้าน พลวง). Hindu sanctuary from the 11th century: sandstone prang on a cross-shaped laterite base, surrounded by a water basin and manicured lawn. The ornate reliefs on the gable show a scene from the legend Krishnavatarin which Krishna raises Mount Govardhana. In Amphoe Prasat, a good 30 km south of Surin on the national road 214 (4 km south of Ban Prasat).Open: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
