Tanuf is a city of Al-Dakhiliyya governorate.
To know
This small village has an interesting historical center made of clay buildings. There is a water bottling plant in the village.
Geographical notes
Halfway between Al Hamra is Nizwa.
Background
During the uprising of the late 1950s, rebels had taken refuge in Jabal Akhdar. Sultan Said ibn Taimour, father of Sultan Qabus ibn Said, asked the British for military aid, but their joint efforts failed. After further incidents, the village was bombed on July 27, 1957 by Royal Air Force planes, in the absence of its inhabitants.
