Tihany is a city on the northwest bank of the Balaton in Hungary and lies in Small area of Balatonfüred.

The history of today's city begins as early as 1095, when the Hungarian King Andreas I had a family crypt and a monastery built here. The Tihany Abbey was authorized to issue certified documents from the 13th century.
