Timmendorfer Strand sees itself on the one hand as a glamorous seaside resort and describes itself as the "Nice of the Baltic Sea", on the other hand it is a family-friendly holiday destination with leisure activities for children and sports for adults. Numerous events such as the pier festival, cultural summer, beach hockey championships, beach polo, beach golf, festival of lights and Oktoberfest attract many visitors and sometimes also celebrities. On the spa promenade, through which the 54th parallel runs, which is marked on the ground, there are fine cafés, expensive boutiques and restaurants. The promenade runs parallel to it, along the long sandy beach. It is part of a coastal path leading from Travemünde leads to Sierksdorf and is very popular with cyclists. Timmendorfer Strand has two piers that protrude far into the Baltic Sea and are named after the names of the hotels in front of which they are located: the Maritim-Seebrücke and the Seeschlösschenbrücke. The tourist information is located in the former town hall, today the house of the spa administration, in the center of the village on Timmendorfer Platz.
