The city Tingri is on Friendship Highway, it is not characterized by any special constructions. A few simple restaurants and some simple hotels for the truckers on the highway. There is, however, a peculiarity: there are two places with this name: one has to distinguish between Old Tingri or Tingri Town and New Tingri, which is about 60 km further east, the place is also known by the name Shekar. No matter which place you choose, you have good access to the from both places Qomolangma National Park, again Mount Everest in Tibetan means and for about 100 km away Mount Everest base camp. And all the way between Old Tingri and New Tingri you always have a wonderful view of the highest mountain in the world.
